Precious’s Story: Skills, Certifications, and a Path Forward

Where It Started

Precious immigrated from Jamaica at 14, inspired by a love of performance and drama. After finishing high school during COVID lockdowns, she struggled to find direction in work and life, until she found FYI through a community partner.

How FYI Showed Up

At FYI, Precious joined Newcomer Compass, completed workshops on job readiness, and earned her Smart Serve, CPR, and cybersecurity certifications. FYI also helped her access tech when she had no internet at home.
