Muhsinah’s Story: Growth, Mentorship, and Giving Back
Where it Started
Muhsinah discovered FYI’s Defining Your Future program while applying for a post-secondary scholarship. She remembers the peer-led workshops and how facilitators shared their own experiences to support others.
“I loved the aspect of youth helping youth,” she says. “It showed me what leadership really looks like.”
How FYI Showed Up
Beyond financial aid, FYI provided mentorship, meals, workshops, and the freedom to explore her own path. With this support, she took on leadership roles in school clubs and in FYI’s own programming.
She became a facilitator for the Post-Secondary Survival Guide and co-led the Igniting Youth Creativity (IYC) pilot, mentoring other students through their academic and creative journeys.
