FOR YOUTH INITIATIVE (FYI) IS SEEKING NEW MEMBERS TO JOIN OUR BOARD
Who we are
For Youth Initiative is a non-profit organization that has served and advocated for thousands of teens and young adults in Toronto across since 1995. Our multi-service agency provides year-round programs and services to local youth to meet their needs and empower them to reach their full potential. We are an organization with both a hyperlocal service focus and systems change advocacy focus. We are at a critical juncture in our growth and are looking for new Board Members to help us meet the evolving needs of the youth and communities we serve.
What we do
FYI provides culturally-relevant, trauma-informed programming and holistic case management support to Black, racialized and newcomer youth in the York South-Weston and Oakwood-Vaughan communities. Our vision is to end the cycle of inequity. Our mission is to support Black, racialized and newcomer youth to navigate systemic barriers, plan for the future, and access the resources and mentorship they need to thrive. Every young person’s journey is unique and their needs are too. Our case management approach meets young people where they are and helps them get to where they want to be. Our programs and services are designed to support youth to settle and integrate in Canada, gain civic leadership skills, graduate high school, enroll in postsecondary education and training, gain employment, and navigate the justice system on their journey to adulthood.
